Visas and Passports

South Africa

General Information

V Australia Ground Crew will require you to show all relevant travel documents at check-in. This will include a passport and may include a visa and proof of onward travel.

Guests are solely responsible for obtaining all travel documents and for complying with all laws, regulations, orders and travel requirements of countries to be flown from, into or over. The airline may refuse to carry you if we reasonably believe you will be refused entry to the destination country. General information on passports and visas may be found at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website.

Passports

All Guests require a passport for international travel, regardless of your destination.  When travelling to South Africa you are required to have a passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of your intended stay, and at least two completely blank pages on which your entry permit can be endorsed.  South African Nationals may enter South Africa on a passport valid on arrival.

We recommend you make sure your passport has at least six months' validity and carry copies of a recent passport photo with you in case you need a replacement passport while overseas.

It is illegal for an adult who holds South African citizenship to enter or depart South Africa using a non-South African passport.

Visas

A visa is permission for a non-citizen to travel to a particular country. Visas are obtained from the issuing authority in your country, usually an embassy. Visas information and requirements for South Africa can be found at the South African Department of Home Affairs website.

Onward and Return Travel

Most countries require visitors to have proof of onward or return travel arrangements. Your itinerary may serve this purpose, and all visitors must carry proof of onward/return travel arrangements with them. Failure to do so may result in refusal of carriage and loss of fare. We recommend printing your itinerary prior to arriving for check-in. Guests should also ensure they have the right of re-entry to their return destination.

Arrival and Departure Documents

Departure documents will be given to you at check-in and must be filled out and handed to officials with your passport as you pass through Customs. Arrival documents will be distributed by Cabin Crew during your flight. These should be completed and presented with your passport to the authorities at your destination.
