Free Baggage Allowance

Whether you like to take your entire life on the road with you or even take empty baggage with you (in order to bring plenty of goodies back home!), there is a limit to how much free baggage V Australia Guests can check-in.

The free baggage piece allowance for adults and children (except infants) on V Australia flights is detailed in the table below.

Please note:

  • Any checked baggage which exceeds these allowances will be subject to standard excess baggage charges and conditions.
  • The total dimensions are determined by adding together the length, height and width of the bag.

International Business 2 pieces 32kg per piece 158cm per piece
International Premium Economy 2 pieces 32kg per piece 158cm per piece

Adults accompanying infants are entitled to check-in one additional piece of checked baggage, to the specification of the fare class under which they are booked; plus one stroller, bassinet or car seat.  They are also entitled to one extra piece of carry-on baggage weighing no more than 7kg with dimensions of no more than 115cm.

Sporting equipment may be accepted as checked baggage provided that the item meets the following restrictions:

 Maximum Limits

Excess Baggage Charges

V Australia charges excess baggage rates in the following three circumstances:

  • Any additional piece of baggage which exceeds the free piece allowance.
  • Any piece of baggage that meets the free piece allowance but exceeds the maximum dimensions and/or weight allowance.
  • Any additional piece of baggage which exceeds the free piece allowance and the weight allowance/dimensions.

NOTE: Any single piece of checked baggage must not exceed the maximum weight and dimensions detailed under Oversize & Fragile Baggage. Any piece that does exceed these restrictions must be sent as Freight.

For more information on excess baggage charges and rates, please contact the Guest Contact Centre.

Unaccompanied Baggage

V Australia cannot accept unaccompanied baggage for carriage. Unaccompanied baggage must be sent as Freight .

Interline and Codeshare Partners

V Australia’s checked baggage allowance and infant baggage allowance will also apply for all Virgin Blue Airlines Codeshare flights. Checked baggage allowance limits, infant baggage allowance and acceptance of sporting equipment for Interline Partners will depend on the operating carrier’s allowance for each sector.
